Responsibilities
Verify the Identity of Signers
Confirm that all parties signing a document are who they claim to be by checking valid identification.
Witness the Signing of Documents
Act as an impartial witness to ensure documents are signed willingly and knowingly.
Administer Oaths and Affirmations
Legally administer oaths or affirmations when required for affidavits, depositions, or sworn statements.
Take Acknowledgments

Prevent Fraud
Ensure all parties are signing without coercion and that the document is authentic and complete.
Complete Notarial Certificates
Fill out and sign the appropriate notarial wording on the document, including date, location, and type of act performed.
